[M] I would like to tell you of Yosef’s early sojourn to Caesarea, a distance about 12 Parsa’ot from his home in Nazareth. It is the port city on the Great Blue Sea which was built up by King Herod many years ago.
As a young man, Yosef would spend extensive time there. His stone and woodwork were in much demand. He became well versed in both the Greek tongue and the language of the Invaders. That is how a man is able to expand opportunities for work, that and most certainly being a reliable craftsman. He told me that often four or more Shabbath would pass before returning to the home of his parents.
After our return from exile, which I shall speak of later, Yosef would often go back to Caesarea. Such stories would he share, of the beautiful water, ships from most distant places, merchants and soldiers as well as of the magnificent structures.
Yosef would always return with some fine cloth and trinkets for me, and later, for the children too. I recall that even as youngsters, Josus and Anne were especially inquisitive of stories of the sea and of the boats.
We shall speak later in more detail, but Josus became a merchant in Caesarea and distant places. I believe he traveled to Rome, yes, I know it was there, but the names of the other places I do not recall. Gabe, I am just getting old. It is fortunate that I recall when to bake more Honey Cakes.
Now let us have some and then, a walk in the garden.
