My name is Gabe.
This chronicle is of conversations in which I participated with Miryam, wife of Yosef and mother of Yeshua, Jesus the Christ. They took place in her village, Nazareth, over a few days during the summer in the Hebrew Year of 3800, 792 AUC, 39 A.D. At that time, Miryam was 58 years of age.
The contents of this work are not meant to be chronological. Nor may one assume that dates, names, locations or definitions must be or are necessarily substantially based on present-day interpretations, as those too are so often subject to re-examination or clarification.
In locations the size of Nazareth, one might expect a great deal of gossip and significant probing into the personal affairs of neighbors. Although some of this always exists, there is an understanding that, since the actions of each person might well be the next “subject,” a degree of caution is exercised.
I find that unusual happenings, which might be bizarre by today’s standards, were often simply not questioned. One might hear, “It is the will of The Most Holy One.” This attitude does so much more than merely assigning defense to the unexplainable. The power of faith and with it, total trust in their G_d (god), HA-SHEM, gave many of the Jews of this time confidence, coupled with hope for the future freedom and safety of their tribes.
And that very same confidence is essential for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the life and circumstances experienced by dear Miryam and those so close to her.
Dialogue, in and by its very nature, must be unrestrictive, and therefore, at times it may well seem somewhat repetitious. Specific issues are expected to be non-sequential.
Therefore, attentive to these caveats, I have chosen to consider this testimony to be a one-on-one talk about her life, spirituality, the hopes, anxieties and the dreams of a girl, then woman.
I have asked too, that this experience be made a permanent record.
Shalom.
